A 3-year-old child tragically passed away after wandering away from home during the night and being discovered in a river.
The young child, whose identity remains undisclosed, left the residence in the early hours of Monday, April 13, and was last sighted near a school around midnight. The specific school in New London, Wisconsin, where the child was found was not disclosed in the latest police update.
The boy was found in the river at approximately 7:17 am local time on the same day and was taken to a medical facility where medical professionals confirmed his death. Authorities stated that the duration the child spent in the water was unknown.
It was suspected that the toddler had wandered about four blocks from his home after his father last checked on him around midnight. He was reported missing shortly before 5 am and was located a little over two hours later, then promptly taken to the hospital. By around 11:30 am local time, law enforcement announced the child’s unfortunate demise.
John Faucher, the proprietor of a local store, observed a significant police presence in New London, Wisconsin, following the issuance of an Amber alert. He informed the local network WSAW that drones and numerous law enforcement vehicles were visible in the area, indicating strong support from various agencies and neighboring communities.
The New London Police Department posted on Monday: “3 YEAR OLD BOY MISSING FROM 1000 BLOCK OF W BEACON AVE NEW LONDON, 3 FT TALL, BROWN HAIR, BROWN EYES, LAST SEEN WEARING ORANGE CHICAGO BEARS SHIRT AND DIAPER, LAST SEEN NEAR MIDDLE SCHOOL NEAR MIDNIGHT.”
In a subsequent update, the police mentioned: “He has been located!! Thank you everyone for sharing.”
According to ABC2, the child was discovered upstream, and the exact location where he entered the river remains unclear. Speculations suggest that he might have entered the river near his residence and been carried by the water current.
Numerous residents utilized the police force’s Facebook page to help circulate information about the missing child. Some individuals claimed to have actively searched for the boy during the time he was reported missing.
