Mini Eggs are a personal favorite treat of mine, but fortunately, they are not available year-round, sparing me from overspending. Easter is the perfect time to indulge in these delightful chocolate treats with their enticing aroma, satisfying crunch, and charming pastel colors.

While these branded Mini Eggs are a top choice for Easter sweets, their cost and availability can be a drawback. To explore more affordable options, I decided to sample supermarket own-brand versions from Aldi, Lidl, M&S, and Asda, eager to see if any could rival the original.

Most major supermarkets offer their own budget-friendly take on Mini Eggs, providing a more cost-effective alternative. I collected various packs from different stores, aiming for consistency in size for a fair comparison. Notably, Aldi only stocked larger packets, which was a pleasant surprise.

After tasting each variety, one brand stood out as the clear winner, surpassing even the original Mini Eggs. I am impressed and plan to stock up on this particular brand before Easter arrives.

Starting with the Cadbury Mini Eggs for comparison, their familiar taste and delightful aroma never fail to please. However, as Easter approaches, these popular treats become harder to find, with some supermarkets currently out of stock. Priced around £2 for an 80g pack, they are a classic choice but come at a slightly higher cost.

Moving on to Asda’s own-brand version, priced at just £1.12 for 80g, they offer a more budget-friendly option. While the taste may not match the premium quality of Cadbury, they are a decent alternative, earning a mid-range score.

Next, the Mister Choc Mini Eggs, priced at £1.15 for 80g, surprised with a unique texture and taste, albeit falling short of the original. They receive a modest rating of one out of five.

The Choceur Mini Eggs from Aldi and Lidl, priced at £3.39 for 256g, offer a larger pack size but deliver a mediocre chocolate experience. With a bland taste, they are not the best choice for those seeking rich and creamy mini eggs, receiving a rating of two out of five.

M&S’s speckled egg biscuits and chocolate bars have been gaining attention, prompting my curiosity to try their Mini Eggs. These eggs, although not “mini” in size, impressed with their glossy appearance and perfect chocolate-to-shell ratio. Their delightful filling and addictive taste make them a strong contender, priced at £1.79 for a 90g bag.

In conclusion, M&S’s Mini Eggs emerge as a solid alternative to Cadbury’s, offering a satisfying chocolate treat. I look forward to exploring more of M&S’s Easter creations and give their Mini Eggs a five-star rating for their quality and taste.
