Increased security measures have been implemented at a South East London prison following the imprisonment of Axel Rudakubana, a notorious child murderer. Rudakubana, 19, is serving a life sentence for the murder of three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class. The killer, held at HMP Belmarsh, is now escorted by a minimum of four guards whenever he leaves his cell.

A recent inquiry highlighted that the tragic 2024 stabbing incident, which shocked the UK, could have been prevented with proper intervention from various agencies. The report indicated that Rudakubana’s actions might have been avoided if his parents had taken the necessary steps to address his behavior.

According to sources, prison guards are on high alert due to Rudakubana’s violent history, with concerns that he could pose a threat. The guards are taking precautions and closely monitoring his movements, ensuring he is accompanied by multiple officers equipped with body-worn cameras. Despite receiving psychological support, Rudakubana’s behavior remains a cause for concern, with officers fearing the possibility of further violent incidents.

Due to resource constraints, Rudakubana is often confined to his cell for up to 23 hours a day, requiring a significant number of personnel to facilitate his movements within the prison. In a separate incident in May 2025, Rudakubana allegedly attacked two officers with boiling water, leading to an investigation by the Ministry of Justice.

In response to the inquiry into the Southport attack, the parents of the victims have called for accountability, claiming that Rudakubana’s parents share responsibility for the tragedy. The legal representative of the families has demanded disciplinary action against those responsible, emphasizing the need for swift and transparent proceedings to address the issue.
