A tragic incident occurred on Easter Sunday, resulting in the death of a three-year-old boy who was shot in the head. Armani Deshawn Lyons was under the care of a 71-year-old babysitter at an Atlanta apartment when emergency services responded to a shooting report around 12:37 a.m. on April 5 in the vicinity of the 900 block of Washington Street SW, as per the Atlanta Police Department.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found the young child with a gunshot wound. The child was rushed to a hospital by ambulance, where medical staff pronounced him dead. The 71-year-old babysitter involved in the incident has been taken into custody, while a second suspect remains at large.
Authorities stated that a preliminary investigation revealed the tragic circumstances surrounding the incident and emphasized that the case is still under investigation for further details. Arrest warrants have been issued for Barbara Edwards, 71, and Jermaine Hardeman, 35, charging them with Felony Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree.
