A fresh travel option has been introduced by Ryanair from London-Stansted to Parma, offering an excellent opportunity for cheese and Italian cuisine enthusiasts.

Reservations are now available for flights between London and Parma, with the inaugural bi-weekly flights commencing on June 4. The service will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, ideal for a weekend getaway, with a flight duration of just under two hours. Ticket prices start from £20.95 for a one-way trip.

Parma, situated in northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, is renowned for its culinary delights, particularly Parmesan cheese and Prosciutto di Parma. Visitors can explore cheese factories, indulge in cheese tastings, and even visit the Museo del Parmigiano-Reggiano to delve into the history of cheese production in the area.

In addition to its gastronomic offerings, Parma boasts a charming walkable cityscape. The Centro Storico, or old town, features narrow medieval streets lined with Romanesque architecture, colorful houses, and bustling town squares filled with cafes.

Notable landmarks in Parma include the Piazza del Duomo, home to a 900-year-old gothic cathedral and the 12th-century Bishop’s Palace constructed from reclaimed Roman stone blocks. The city also houses the impressive Teatro Farnese, a grand Baroque theater entirely crafted from timber, showcasing intricate wood carvings from the 17th century.

For music aficionados, the House of Sound museum provides an intriguing exploration of music technology evolution, featuring an array of speakers allowing visitors to experience immersive audio exhibits.

Parma offers a plethora of dining options, including Michelin-starred restaurants and cozy Trattoria and Osteria serving authentic Italian fare. Osteria dei Servi and Trattoria Corrieri are highly recommended for a genuine Italian dining experience amidst a rustic setting.
