A young boy, aged six, has tragically passed away following his third bout with cancer.

Tommy Verbickas was initially diagnosed with cancer when he was just two years old in February 2022, after doctors discovered a substantial mass on his left kidney weighing 2.3kg. He was diagnosed with Wilms tumor, a type of kidney cancer, and underwent both chemotherapy and surgery.

Hailing from Sale, Greater Manchester, Tommy celebrated the end of his treatment in November 2022, only to face two subsequent relapses, leading to his third battle with cancer, which he ultimately lost, as confirmed by his family.

Expressing their grief, his family shared their hope that he is now happily soaring and dancing among rainbows, saying, “Our special boy Tommy, we hope you’re flying high, dancing through the rainbows. Until we meet again, our precious boy.”

Earlier this week, the family revealed their sadness over not having more time with Tommy, mentioning his ongoing fight against the disease for the past four years. They emphasized the pain of witnessing their child’s decline and highlighted Tommy’s incredible strength and determination.

In an update shared on April 4, Tommy’s mother detailed the rapid progression of cancer in his lung and the deterioration of his condition, describing it as “the hardest thing we’ve ever faced.”

Following his passing, an outpouring of tributes and kind words has poured in for Tommy, praising him as the “most amazing, bravest, and courageous little boy” who demonstrated remarkable strength and bravery throughout his journey.

Karen Harrison paid tribute, expressing deep love for Tommy and acknowledging his enduring presence as the brightest star in the sky. Another tribute hailed Tommy for his unmatched resilience in facing challenges no child should ever endure, promising unwavering support for his family in the days ahead.
