The King and Queen of a certain country are set to meet survivors of domestic abuse during their upcoming tour of the United States. However, they will not be meeting any individuals who are victims of Jeffrey Epstein.

Despite calls for the royals to engage with victims of sex trafficking linked to Epstein, they have been advised against it due to active police investigations. The former prince Andrew has faced repeated pressure to cooperate with US authorities investigating Epstein’s crimes, as documents released by the US State Department this year mentioned him and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson in relation to the late financier.

Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna, who co-sponsored a law leading to the release of Epstein files, has urged the King to privately meet victims to understand their experiences firsthand. Both the King and Queen have expressed their support for abuse victims in the past.

The Queen, known for her advocacy for abuse survivors, has a history of involvement in raising awareness, including a significant documentary appearance in 2004. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, stripped of his titles by the King, faced allegations of misconduct related to Epstein.

While Buckingham Palace stated it’s not feasible to arrange the suggested meeting during the State Visit, they emphasized the need to avoid any actions that could hinder ongoing investigations and potential legal proceedings affecting survivors’ pursuit of justice.

The royal couple’s visit aims to strengthen ties between their country and the US, emphasizing the historical “Special Relationship.” Despite criticisms due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, President Trump has welcomed the King, whom he previously hosted on a State Visit.

The Liberal Democrat Leader called for the cancellation of the King’s visit, citing concerns about aligning with the US amidst international conflicts. Responding, Sir Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of addressing differences in alliances.

The King and Queen’s strategic role in building alliances, even amid challenges, aligns with the objectives of State Visits, according to palace sources. The Foreign Office highlighted the enduring value of the alliance between the two nations.

The visit, coinciding with America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, aims to recognize shared history, economic ties, and cultural connections. The royal couple will engage in public celebrations and official events during their tour.

Following their US visit, the Queen will return to the UK while the King will proceed to Bermuda for his first official visit as Sovereign to a British Overseas Territory. The itinerary includes engagements to deepen understanding of Bermuda’s history and support for international space sustainability efforts.
