President Donald Trump has removed Vice President JD Vance from the team tasked with negotiating a peace agreement with Iran. Additionally, Trump has issued a strong warning, stating that he would consider destroying the entire country if a peace deal is not reached.
Trump informed The Weekend that Vance will not participate in the upcoming negotiations in Islamabad due to security concerns. Instead, the delegation will be led by Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner.
The president revealed to Fox News that the delegation is scheduled to travel to Islamabad for meetings starting on Tuesday, possibly extending into Wednesday.
In a statement to the news channel, Trump emphasized that the upcoming negotiations represent Iran’s final opportunity to sign the deal. He unequivocally stated, “If Iran refuses to agree to this deal, the entire country will face severe consequences.”
This development comes after Trump’s recent threats to target all power plants and bridges in Iran, as expressed in his provocative posts on Truth Social.
The escalating tensions stemmed from Iran’s alleged breach of the ceasefire agreement following reports of Iranian gunboats opening fire on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s decision to close the critical waterway in response to the ongoing blockade of Iranian ports by the US further exacerbated the situation.
In his latest online message, Trump urged Iran to cooperate during the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad, warning that failure to reach an agreement would result in the destruction of essential infrastructure in Iran.
Trump’s aggressive rhetoric is not new, as he previously made similar threats in his controversial social media posts before the ceasefire agreement was in place. He emphasized the gravity of the situation by stating, “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!” and reiterated his intentions to take drastic action if Iran does not comply.
The president’s confrontational stance has raised concerns about the potential consequences of a breakdown in diplomatic efforts, with Trump’s past statements indicating a willingness to escalate tensions and take extreme measures in dealing with Iran.
