Donald Trump responded to Iran’s actions by initiating a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for global oil transportation. The tension escalated after Iran disrupted the passage of vessels following attacks by Israel and the US, causing turmoil in the global economy.

Despite recent ceasefire attempts between the US and Iran, peace talks collapsed, leading to a standoff in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump expressed frustration online, vowing to intercept vessels that paid tolls to Iran and destroy any mines in the area.

The blockade, enforced by the US Navy, commenced on Monday, targeting vessels heading to Iranian ports while allowing neutral ships a grace period to exit. The exact deployment locations of the US Navy remain undisclosed, with a focus likely on the Gulf of Oman where a significant portion of the world’s oil supply traverses.

US Central Command revealed that over 12 warships and 100 fighters are part of the blockade, aiming to prevent illicit activities by Iran’s shadow fleet. While humanitarian vessels will be allowed passage with inspection, the US military emphasized impartial enforcement for all vessels entering or departing Iranian ports.

The complexity and risks involved in enforcing the blockade were highlighted by experts, cautioning that interdictions could be challenging. The situation remains tense as the US government maintains secrecy regarding the blockade’s enforcement methods.
