Tourists at the Vatican this week have criticized US President Donald Trump for his recent comments about Pope Leo. Trump took to social media to call the Pope “weak” and influenced by the “radical left” after Leo condemned Trump’s actions towards Iran. Despite backlash, Trump stood firm on his statements.

While the Pope is currently on a trip to Africa, visitors at the Vatican have not shied away from sharing their thoughts on the matter. Joerg Soler from Switzerland stated that a Pope should prioritize peace and global welfare, while Mariella Acciaioli from France expressed concern over the escalating situation and the need for unity.

American tourist Paul Sarauskas found Trump’s remarks concerning and believed that leaders should focus on promoting peace and cooperation rather than discord. Pope Leo responded to Trump’s criticisms by reaffirming the Vatican’s commitment to peace and reconciliation, emphasizing the importance of the Gospel’s message in today’s world.

Italian journalist Massimo Franco noted Trump’s expectation for the Pope to align with US interests, highlighting the Pope’s role in guiding global discourse. Rev. Antonio Spadaro, a prominent figure at the Vatican, commented on Trump’s attacks, indicating that the President’s attempts to undermine moral authority only underscore his own limitations.

The interactions between Trump and the Pope have sparked debate about the intersection of politics and religion, with many emphasizing the need for mutual respect and understanding in global affairs.
