Luke Littler has shared that he extended an invitation to Prince William for the upcoming PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace. The 19-year-old met the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle after receiving his MBE for his achievements in darts.
During their conversation, Littler mentioned that Prince William expressed interest in attending an evening at Ally Pally as it seemed like an enjoyable outing. The reigning world champion then welcomed the future king to join the event.
Reflecting on their interaction, Littler stated, “Prince William mentioned he has been following the journey, and we discussed the immense popularity of darts. While I didn’t formally invite him, if he requires tickets, either myself or the PDC will ensure his attendance.”
Known for his passion for football, Prince William celebrated Aston Villa’s victory in the Europa League recently. Villa’s defender, Matty Cash, revealed that the Prince joined the team for a celebratory drink, emphasizing his unwavering support for the club.
As Prince William’s interest in darts unfolds, Littler described the encounter as a surreal experience. He shared his astonishment at being honored alongside notable personalities like actress Cynthia Erivo and comedian Matt Lucas at the prestigious event.
Looking ahead, Littler is focusing on the Premier League Darts title quest, aiming for his second championship win. His upcoming semi-final against Gerwyn Price sets the stage for an intense competition, with the prospect of facing either Jonny Clayton or Luke Humphries in the final.
Expressing his ambitions, Littler remarked, “Securing a spot in the final for the third consecutive time would be fulfilling, but my immediate focus is on defeating Gezzy. While some may anticipate a showdown between me and Luke in the final, our consistent performance speaks for itself.”
