Apple has appointed John Ternus as its new CEO following the announcement of Tim Cook stepping down. Cook, who took over as CEO in 2011 when Steve Jobs resigned due to health issues, will continue as executive chair at the company.
Expressing his gratitude in a press release, Cook stated, “Being the CEO of Apple has been the most significant honor of my life, leading such an exceptional company that I love wholeheartedly.” He praised the innovative and dedicated team at Apple for their commitment to enhancing customer experiences and delivering top-notch products.
The 65-year-old Cook will collaborate with Ternus during the transition period and then focus on specific company aspects, including engaging with global policymakers. The Board of Directors unanimously approved the leadership change.
Ternus, previously the senior vice president of Hardware Engineering at Apple, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to continue Apple’s mission. With a career mostly spent at Apple and having learned from both Steve Jobs and Tim Cook, Ternus looks forward to advancing products and experiences that revolutionize interactions in the digital world.
Filled with optimism for the future, Ternus emphasized the exceptional talent at Apple and his commitment to upholding the values that define the company. He pledged to lead with the same vision that has shaped Apple for decades.
