Some Android users are facing a concerning issue where their phone batteries are depleting rapidly even when the devices are not in active use. This problem seems to have emerged following a recent software update. Numerous Android users have taken to online forums to express their frustrations, with one individual mentioning that they now need to charge their phone three times a day to maintain battery life.

The battery drainage bug has primarily impacted Google’s Pixel phone lineup, with the tech company acknowledging the issue and working on a solution.

Affected devices include the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A.

9to5Google has identified CPU wakeups as the likely cause of the problem, indicating that the phone remains active in the background even when not in use.

Users like Phil have shared their experiences, noting issues such as sudden battery drops and slow charging times. Another user, Fz, mentioned a significant increase in the frequency of charging post-update, with the battery draining even when the phone is not in use.

Despite these complaints, not all Pixel users are encountering battery problems. Some, like Warren, have reported no significant battery drain on their devices.

Google is expected to address this issue promptly with an update. Updates on the situation will be provided as more information becomes available.
