A British man has been labeled a “monster” by the Department of Homeland Security in the United States after a series of violent attacks that resulted in three deaths. Olaolukitan Adon Abel, a 26-year-old from London, is now at the center of an intense immigration debate following the Trump administration’s inquiry into how he was permitted to reside in the country.

Among the victims was a federal government employee who was fatally shot and stabbed while walking her dog. Abel was apprehended on Monday after a spree of unprovoked assaults in DeKalb County, Atlanta, according to investigators.

The Department of Homeland Security condemned Abel’s actions, branding him a “MONSTER” and vowing to eliminate individuals like him from communities under President Trump’s leadership. Abel is facing multiple charges, including murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses, although authorities have only confirmed two deaths at this time.

Abel, originally from Camden with relatives in the US, was granted US citizenship in 2022 during the Biden administration, sparking criticism from the Trump White House due to his prior criminal record. One of the deceased victims, Lauren Bullis, a 40-year-old DHS employee, was described by family members as a cherished individual.

Markwayne Mullin, the Homeland Secretary, confirmed Bullis’ identity and expressed condolences to the victims’ families. Abel has also been linked to other violent incidents, including the murder of an unidentified woman outside a Checkers and the shooting of a homeless man outside a Kroger in Brookhaven.

Brookhaven Police Chief Brandon Gurley stated that the attacks appeared to be random, with no evident connection between the victims. Abel was located through license plate recognition and now faces a range of charges, with additional charges possible as the investigation progresses.

The identities of the other victims have not been disclosed, and authorities have not determined a motive for the attacks. Abel’s previous criminal record has come under scrutiny, revealing convictions for assault and other offenses in different states. He is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing without a scheduled court appearance date yet established.
