Lewis Hamilton has advised England football fans to refrain from chanting ‘It’s Coming Home’ until the Three Lions clinch the World Cup. The racing star shared his message with supporters of Thomas Tuchel’s team at the beginning of the tournament in North America and also disclosed his support for another team this summer.

Hamilton, a native of Stevenage, has proudly represented Great Britain in his illustrious Formula 1 career. Despite this, he was honored with Brazilian citizenship in 2022 and recently announced his allegiance to Carlo Ancelotti’s Selecao alongside Harry Kane and his colleagues.

Expressing his fondness for Brazil, Hamilton stated, “Brazil has always been my favorite team alongside England. I admired watching Brazil play while growing up in England. Their vibrant colors, rich culture, and exceptionally skilled players always captivated me; they exuded coolness.”

He added, “I have a deep appreciation for their origins, with many players hailing from humble backgrounds where they played barefoot on the streets. There’s something truly remarkable about Brazilian culture.”

Hamilton’s remarks sparked significant reactions, particularly in his homeland. However, just before the start of the World Cup with Mexico and South Africa facing off, Hamilton reiterated his steadfast support for the South American powerhouse.

When asked about his World Cup predictions, Hamilton responded, “I don’t have a specific prediction as I don’t closely follow the tournament. I will tune in occasionally, keeping a close eye on England’s progress. I hope they avoid premature chants of ‘It’s Coming Home,’ a common practice for us. Let’s celebrate only when we’ve achieved it. While it’s a fantastic anthem, I am excited to watch the yellow-clad Brazilian team in action. I truly enjoy watching Brazil play.”

Having secured second place in his last two Grand Prix races, Hamilton seems to have found his stride since joining Ferrari. While a maiden victory for the Scuderia appears imminent, Hamilton acknowledges that it remains contingent on Mercedes encountering challenges or his team significantly closing the performance gap with the Silver Arrows.

Hamilton favors the latter scenario, stating, “I hope we can position ourselves for such a situation. Winning through sheer performance and merit is our goal, rather than benefiting from others’ misfortunes. We strive to win by excelling collectively and earning our victories.”
