Iran’s Supreme Leader has issued a strong statement targeting Donald Trump and US forces. Mojtaba Khamenei commended his troops for resisting American and Israeli “arrogance” and vowed to bring about further defeats. He highlighted how his army has confronted America’s malevolent plans and emphasized their unity with other armed forces against perceived enemies. The mention of the Iranian navy being prepared for “new defeats” follows the announcement of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, with reports of Iranian gunboats engaging tankers in the crucial waterway.

Mojtaba, who has not been publicly seen since the conflict with the US and Israel commenced, was appointed as the new leader after his father’s demise in the initial attacks. In his recent message conveyed through Iranian state media, he lauded the efforts of the Iranian armed forces and extended blessings to all associated with the military. Furthermore, Iran’s joint military command confirmed the restoration of control over the Strait of Hormuz and reiterated their commitment to impede transit as long as the US maintains its blockade of Iranian ports.

Incidents of Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboats firing at a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz were reported by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center, with reassurance of the safety of the vessel and crew. The ongoing tensions in the region underscore the continued military posturing and strategic maneuvers amidst geopolitical challenges.
