EE has announced an enhancement to its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing threat of scams. The upgrade, available to all EE pay-monthly mobile customers for £2 per month, aims to provide improved protection against cyber thieves attempting to obtain sensitive information.

Since its initial launch in 2024, EE’s Scam Guard has already thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the newly upgraded version, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of scams over the next year.

The core of the enhanced Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection, which comprises three digital safety features powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine. Safe Email offers proactive scam protection for email accounts around the clock, while Safe SMS utilizes advanced AI to detect sophisticated scams in text messages, ensuring real-time protection for customers. Additionally, Safe Web uses AI to block malicious websites during online activities, safeguarding customers from potential harm.

The upgraded Scam Guard also introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to upload screenshots of suspicious content for instant advice on their safety. Moreover, Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring are included to detect any questionable activity across a customer’s online presence and promptly alert them for necessary action.

Malcolm Cubitt, EE’s Director of Product, Mobile, emphasized the importance of adapting to the evolving threats of fraud, particularly with the rise of convincing AI-driven scams. EE strives to protect its customers by investing in innovative cyber security measures, such as industry alliances, network-level controls, and a dedicated team of security experts. The enhanced Scam Guard service further reinforces EE’s commitment to providing top-tier cyber security protection for its customers.
