Anthony Joshua recently paid a visit to a funeral home in Lagos to honor his late friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, following his release from the hospital. Joshua sustained minor injuries in a car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which tragically claimed the lives of his two close companions.

Having been discharged from the hospital, the British boxer, aged 36, is now recuperating at his home in Nigeria. Before settling in, Joshua accompanied his mother to the funeral home to bid farewell to Ghami and Ayodele.

A statement from local government officials expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and highlighted the profound loss suffered in the accident involving Anthony Joshua. The community mourns the untimely passing of the two young men and prays for their souls to rest in peace.

Despite the heavy emotional burden of losing his friends, Joshua was cleared to continue his recovery at home. He and his mother paid their final respects to the departed at the funeral home before their bodies were prepared for repatriation.

Both the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, appreciate the outpouring of support and sympathy following the tragic incident. They also acknowledged the medical team at Lagoon Hospital Ikoyi for their exceptional care and professionalism.

The fatal accident occurred when the black SUV Joshua was traveling in collided with a parked truck, resulting in the loss of his friends’ lives. Investigation into the crash is ongoing, with authorities searching for the truck driver who had illegally parked on the highway shoulder.

The driver of the SUV, who was discharged from the hospital, provided a statement to the police. According to Babatunde Akinbiyi from the Ogun State’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, overspeeding and a burst tire led to the loss of control, causing the SUV to collide with the stationary truck due to excessive speed.
