EasyJet has introduced new flights departing from Manchester Airport to the vibrant city of Montpellier, a Mediterranean destination known for its abundant sunshine throughout the year. Despite being often overshadowed by popular tourist spots like Paris, Montpellier offers a serene atmosphere with its medieval structures, bustling squares, and quaint cafes.
Renowned for its sunny climate, Montpellier enjoys around 300 sunny days annually with summer days extending up to 10 hours. The city experiences mild winters and hot, dry summers, with minimal rainfall and temperatures peaking at 18C to 21C in April.
The timing is perfect for easyJet’s launch of the Manchester-Montpellier route, with inaugural flights commencing this week and scheduled for Mondays and Fridays during the summer season. Fares start from £26.99, and the flight duration is just over two hours, allowing travelers to bask in the Mediterranean sun in no time.
Montpellier boasts a range of attractions, including the historic city center with landmarks like Place de la Comédie, Promenade du Peyrou, and Saint-Pierre Cathedral. The Old Town, with its charming medieval streets, trendy shops, and lively squares, is a must-visit for a complete Montpellier experience.
Noteworthy sites like the Jardin des Plantes, France’s oldest botanical garden, and the panoramic views from Peyrou Promenade offer tranquil escapes and stunning vistas for visitors to enjoy. Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK country manager, expressed delight in expanding leisure connections from Manchester, providing customers with more travel options. Manchester Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer, Stephen Turner, highlighted the significance of the new Montpellier route, offering travelers from the North increased choices for summer getaways.
