Donald Trump did not anticipate that a waterway would become a critical battleground in the conflict with Iran. The ongoing effective blockade of the vital Strait of Hormuz by Tehran has triggered economic shockwaves globally, posing a significant challenge for the US President. Amid missile strikes on Tehran, Trump’s latest forceful warning to Iran underscores his intense frustration and alarm.

The narrow Strait, a crucial passage for about a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas under normal circumstances, is less than 30 nautical miles wide. While the US and Western nations are not heavily dependent on direct Gulf shipments, they have experienced surging wholesale prices due to concerns about the impact on the global economy.

Trump’s primary concern is not the direct impact on US shipments but the repercussions of heightened prices affecting American voters. He is particularly incensed by Iran’s defiance, as he expected them to surrender before the military actions, which commenced nearly six weeks ago in collaboration with Israel.

As the conflict persists and Iran continues to control oil shipments, Trump’s frustration escalates. The White House initiated Operation Epic Fury with the aim to cripple Iran’s military capabilities and prevent them from acquiring nuclear weapons. After six weeks, Trump’s anger remains palpable as the situation unfolds.
