Wizz Air has provided a significant update on four destinations and has prolonged the suspension of its flights.
Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, airlines are facing substantial disruptions in travel operations, resulting in numerous flight cancellations. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has advised against travel to certain parts of the region due to escalating tensions, especially after recent US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
In response to the escalating conflict, Wizz Air has announced the suspension of all flights to and from Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman until Sunday, March 15. Initially planned until March 7, the flight cancellations have been extended due to the continuing conflict situation.
A spokesperson from Wizz Air stated, “In light of the recent security escalation in Iran, Wizz Air will halt all flights to and from Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman until March 15, as we adjust our schedules to meet reduced demand. Flights to and from Saudi Arabia will resume as scheduled from March 8.”
The airline is closely monitoring the situation and staying in touch with relevant authorities and agencies to ensure passenger and aircraft safety. Operational decisions will be continuously evaluated, and flight schedules may be adjusted accordingly.
Following the initial announcement of flight suspensions, Wizz Air has decided to resume flights to and from Saudi Arabia starting from March 8. Additionally, the airline is planning to introduce extra flights connecting Israel and Europe via Sharm El Sheikh (SSH) from various European airports, starting from March 6.
In light of these developments, Wizz Air is prioritizing passenger safety and ensuring smooth travel operations amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
