Tesco has issued a warning that £17 million worth of Clubcard vouchers are nearing their expiration date at the close of the month.

The supermarket distributes Clubcard vouchers every quarter – in February, May, August, and November – with a validity of two years. The vouchers in question, first distributed in May 2024, will lose their value after 11.59 pm on May 31. Tesco customers earn Clubcard points for their purchases in-store or fuel bought at a Tesco forecourt.

Aside from in-store purchases, Clubcard points can also be accumulated through Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile. For instance, using a Clubcard Credit Card at Tesco earns five points for every £4 spent, or one point for every £8 spent elsewhere. Similarly, Tesco Mobile users earn one Clubcard point for every £1 spent on monthly bills or top-ups. To redeem a Clubcard voucher, a minimum of 150 points is required, equivalent to a £1.50 value at Tesco.

By partnering with Rewards Partners like Pizza Express, Alton Towers, or Hotels.com, customers can maximize the value of their Clubcard vouchers. Additionally, a strategy exists to extend the validity of vouchers by making a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards page, where any remaining balance is credited back to the Clubcard account.

Aim to spend as little as possible, like 50p, to ensure the maximum amount is credited back to the Clubcard account. For instance, using a £5 Clubcard voucher for a 50p purchase would yield 450 points, valued at £4.50, with a two-year expiration date for the new vouchers.

Currently, Tesco boasts over 24 million Clubcard members. Shama Wilson, Tesco Group Membership and Loyalty Director, emphasized the value of utilizing Clubcard vouchers for discounts at partner establishments, saving money on outings, railcards, or hotel bookings. Wilson encouraged all members to check their accounts for any vouchers to be redeemed.
