Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced a global recall of approximately 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or second-row driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This flaw could compromise the effectiveness of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Stellantis has been made aware of one injury possibly linked to this issue, but no fatalities have been reported.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 outside of North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to instruct them to contact dealers for an inspection. Dealers will examine the second-row center and second-row driver seat belt buckle anchor and, if necessary, correctly secure it to the vehicle’s body structure.
