After an innocent encounter with a cashew at just 18 months old, Simon’s life took a drastic turn. Rushed to the Winnipeg HSC Children’s Emergency Department with a rapidly swelling face, it was confirmed that he was experiencing an anaphylactic reaction due to a severe cashew and pistachio allergy diagnosis.
This incident marked the beginning of a life filled with constant vigilance and fear for Simon’s parents, Morgan Klachefsky and Job. Determined to protect their son, they immersed themselves in education and training on anaphylactic allergies. However, as their knowledge grew, so did their anxiety, leading to an overprotective stance that inhibited Simon’s freedom.
