Russia has issued a direct threat to attack multiple locations in the UK that it believes are aiding Ukraine in its conflict against Moscow. The Russian defense ministry has identified certain sites that it claims are producing military equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces to target Russian territories. This conflict between Russia and Ukraine began in February 2022 when Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine.
According to reports from The Mirror, three of the threatened locations in the UK are in London, Leicester, and Suffolk. The Russian defense ministry expressed concern over European countries increasing the production and supply of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Ukraine, viewing it as a provocative move that could escalate tensions in Europe.
The ministry warned of potential “terrorist attacks against Russia” and emphasized that such actions could lead to unpredictable consequences. Dmitry Medvedev, a senior Kremlin official and former Russian president, stressed the seriousness of the threat in a social media post, cautioning European leaders to take the threat seriously.
In addition to the UK sites, the Russian defense ministry also identified alleged production facilities in several other European countries. The Daily Express previously highlighted some of the safest places to be in the UK in the event of a conflict like World War 3, suggesting areas away from major military bases and densely populated cities.
Experts recommended these locations as safe havens in case of a worst-case scenario, emphasizing the importance of avoiding areas with significant military presence and high population density.
