Pope Leo, during his Africa tour, emphasized the importance of standing against the influences of the affluent and powerful individuals, following criticism from Donald Trump. In a speech delivered to Cameroon’s President Paul Biya and other officials, the Pope urged the government to resist the dominance of the super wealthy and combat corruption for the sake of establishing peace and justice.

He stressed the necessity to break free from the corrupt practices that tarnish authority and undermine its credibility, calling for a shift away from the pursuit of profit above all else. Additionally, the Pope called for an end to the ongoing Anglophone conflict in Cameroon, which has resulted in numerous casualties.

The Pope’s remarks come amidst a public exchange with President Trump, where the latter disparaged the pontiff for his stance on various issues, including the Iran situation. Trump criticized the Pope’s approach to crime and foreign policy, expressing his disapproval of Pope Leo.

Addressing a different audience, the Pope issued a statement condemning arrogance and highlighting God’s support for the humble and compassionate individuals who embody love and service. This message was met with a rebuttal from JD Vance, who contested the Pope’s assertion that God does not align with those who engage in warfare, citing historical just war theories.

Vance, speaking at an event, acknowledged the potential for differing views on the justifiability of conflicts. The Vatican responded to Vance’s comments through its editorial director, emphasizing the evolution of warfare and the ethical complexities raised by modern weaponry, suggesting a reevaluation of traditional just war doctrines.
