Mark Allen graciously accepted defeat after Jack Lisowski secured the Home Nations Series bonus, humorously mentioning that he “cried himself to sleep” when the £150,000 prize slipped through his fingers.

Lisowski staged a remarkable comeback, culminating in a stylish break of 78 in the final frame of his semi-final against John Higgins, securing his place in the final and claiming the substantial cash award.

Initially leading the rankings, Allen missed his chance to clinch the prize at the Welsh Open, allowing a competitor to seize the opportunity. Despite winning the English Open in September and reaching the semi-finals of the Northern Ireland and Scottish Opens consecutively, Allen suffered a first-round loss to David Grace in Wales.

Lisowski, one of the few contenders capable of overtaking Allen, capitalized on the opening presented to him, ultimately winning the jackpot. While Allen congratulated Lisowski, it was undoubtedly a disappointing outcome for him.

Expressing his thoughts on social media, Allen praised Lisowski’s performance and humorously remarked on his recurring second-place finishes over the years. Lisowski, who was behind 3-1 against Higgins but rallied to win 6-5, emphasized his determination to keep potting balls until victory was secured.

Reflecting on his winning break, Lisowski emphasized his focus on continuous potting and staying composed under pressure. He acknowledged his initial struggles during the match and credited his turnaround to breaking free from self-imposed constraints.

Looking ahead to the final against Barry Hawkins, Lisowski emphasized the need to maintain focus and strive for further success, highlighting the competitive nature of the sport.
