A honeymooning tourist in the Maldives is in critical condition following a shark attack that resulted in severe blood loss and the amputation of his leg at a hospital. The victim, identified as Borja, a Spanish gynaecologist from Alicante who recently married Ana, was viciously attacked by a shark off the coast of Kooddoo, an island in Gaafu Alif Atoll. Reports suggest that the attack occurred near a fish processing plant known for high shark activity.
After the initial treatment at Ga. Atoll Hospital, the victim was airlifted to Male, the capital of the Maldives, and is currently receiving intensive care at ADK Hospital. The incident has sparked allegations of negligence against the excursion company that organized the group’s visit to the area.
Family members, including Ana’s relatives, have rushed to the Maldives to support her during this difficult time. The situation remains critical as efforts are being made to save Borja, who is fighting for his life in intensive care.
The incident took place near the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, a renowned honeymoon destination on the island of Kooddoo.
