A pregnant woman was attacked by her ex-partner in an attempt to reignite their relationship after he was released from prison. Kieran Walton, who had previously served time for assaulting the woman, confronted her at her residence, leading to a dispute over her alleged involvement with other men during his incarceration.

Following verbal abuse and provocation by Walton, the situation escalated into violence when the woman revealed she had been recording the incident. Walton physically assaulted her by pushing her, biting her back, striking her face, and choking her. The incident took place on January 18 this year at the woman’s home, as reported by ChronicleLive.

During the trial at Newcastle Crown Court, prosecuting lawyer Rachel Kelly highlighted that Walton accused the woman of infidelity and was angered by her lack of intimacy during his time in jail. The woman discreetly recorded the confrontation, which further aggravated Walton, leading to the physical assault.

The victim, who was 16 weeks pregnant during the attack, sustained injuries including cuts, bruises, and a visible bite mark. Walton, aged 35 and with a history of previous convictions, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for causing bodily harm and intentional strangulation.

Recorder Paul Reid emphasized the seriousness of Walton’s actions, stating that even brief strangulation can induce extreme fear and potentially lead to unconsciousness or death. Walton’s defense lawyer, Ian Hudson, mentioned that his client is addressing mental health issues and is diligent in his work.
