A driver linked to Anthony Joshua is anticipated to face charges of ‘reckless driving’ in Nigeria following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two of the boxer’s close associates. The individual, a 47-year-old member of Joshua’s team in Nigeria, is expected to be formally charged in the next 48 hours, according to reports.
After being discharged from a hospital in Lagos, the driver was transported to Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, where the incident occurred. He underwent questioning for several hours and provided an official statement detailing the events leading up to the crash, which resulted in the deaths of Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele, notable friends of Joshua.
Joshua, who was also released from the hospital, paid his respects to the deceased at a funeral home alongside his mother. The driver, after receiving treatment for minor injuries, was questioned at the state police headquarters and is expected to face charges related to reckless driving.
The accident involved a black Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua, which collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The driver of the truck fled the scene and is now wanted by the authorities. According to officials, overspeeding and a burst front tire on the SUV contributed to the loss of control and subsequent collision with the truck.
