A young man from the UK shared his experience staying at a ‘celebrity hotel’ where he secured a room for £37 per night and ended up in a Bon Jovi themed room. Spencer Ray Lyon, 33, a content creator and live stream seller, opted for this accommodation as the most affordable choice during a recent visit to Bournemouth.
Although the hotel has received mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, boasting an overall rating of 3.9, it offers a convenient location just a short walk from Bournemouth Beach. Intrigued by the celebrity-themed concept, Spencer decided to give it a try.
According to Spencer, the ‘celebrity’ label doesn’t stem from attracting A-list guests but rather from featuring rooms inspired by famous personalities. Upon arrival, Spencer expressed curiosity about the celebrity connection, noticing Predator statues and a phone box at the entrance, which he found quite interesting.
The themed rooms are adorned with posters and memorabilia associated with various celebrities. Spencer was assigned the Bon Jovi room, complete with posters but sans the actual singer. He discovered a figure of the Lord of the Rings character Legolas integrated into the wall, providing a distinctive touch to his stay. Additionally, the hallway was adorned with Lord of the Rings posters.
In addition to the Bon Jovi room, there are other celebrity-themed rooms paying tribute to icons like Rowan Atkinson, Elvis, David Bowie, Keira Knightley, and Michael Jackson.
Overall, Spencer indicated that his stay met his expectations given the low price he paid. He found the staff to be friendly and helpful, utilizing the hotel for a budget-friendly overnight stay.
Regarding the room amenities, Spencer was content with the single bed, shower, and tea/coffee facilities, deeming them satisfactory for the price he paid. His final assessment? “I have no complaints considering the price.”
Spencer posted a video of his experience on TikTok under the account name @lifeatgully, garnering over 440,000 views at the time of writing. Commenters recognized the hotel from an episode of The Hotel Inspector, where Alex Polizzi aimed to infuse glamour into a celebrity-themed establishment.
One guest shared a past experience staying in the Beatles room, which was temporarily renamed ‘Eatles’ due to a missing ‘B’. Another commenter praised the affordable rate and the lovely furniture in the hotel.
In a humorous tone, someone questioned if the hotel changes the decor of a room dedicated to a canceled celebrity. If you wish to explore this quirky hotel yourself, more information and bookings can be found at villarehotels.com/celebritybournemouth.
