Several Taylor Swift tracks have been taken down from social media videos shared by the U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, both of which had utilized two of the singer’s songs in the past week.
There was no immediate response from the White House or a representative for Swift when contacted for comments.
Swift has not recently addressed Trump directly, but she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election, Swift took to social media to express her disapproval of Trump as president, stating that he was not wanted in that role.
Trump has been vocal in his criticism of Swift. Following her endorsement of Harris, the Republican leader expressed his dislike for Swift on social media, saying, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” He also made comments insinuating that Swift’s popularity had waned since he expressed his dislike for her.
Multiple artists, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have made appeals to the Trump administration not to use their music in any form.
TikTok Videos Reference Popular Swift Songs
The Trump campaign featured two Taylor Swift songs on its TikTok page in the past week. One video, playing on Swift’s lyrics, included a caption alluding to her famous songs, such as “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).”
In June, Trump’s campaign posted a video on TikTok with Swift’s new track from Toy Story 5 titled I Knew It, I Knew You. The video was captioned, “Nobody loves our country & the American People more than @President Donald J Trump,” showcasing him interacting with children at the White House, dancing at a UFC match, and appearing at a rally.
This marked the third occasion where the Trump administration or campaign had used music from the Grammy-winning artist in recent times.
