Donald Trump delivered a concise criticism of the individual who disrupted the White House correspondents’ dinner, leading to the evacuation of the US President. The suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, was apprehended following the disturbance at the event attended by approximately 2,500 guests, including Donald Trump, Melania Trump, and other high-ranking US officials. Amid the chaos, the Secret Service swiftly removed Trump from the stage, ensuring his safety.
Surveillance footage from the Washington Hilton hotel lobby captured the suspect bypassing a security checkpoint near the ballroom, where he shot an officer at close range. Fortunately, the officer survived the attack due to wearing a bulletproof vest.
The incident occurred around 8:35 pm local time on Saturday night, with Trump later holding a press conference condemning the suspect’s actions. Describing the alleged gunman as a “lone wolf whack job,” Trump emphasized the need to prevent such incidents, stating, “We don’t want things like this to happen.”
Trump expressed astonishment at the dangers associated with his position, mentioning a previous assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. He stressed the importance of heightened security measures while asserting the nation’s determination to maintain societal order.
Authorities revealed that the suspect, a resident of Torrance, California, was armed with multiple weapons, including a shotgun, handgun, and knives. Despite having no criminal record and not being on law enforcement’s watchlist, the suspect is set to face various charges, including the use of a firearm during a violent offense.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Allen worked as a part-time teacher and video game developer. He had been recognized as “teacher of the month” by his employer, C2 Education, in December 2024, as seen on social media posts.
