Lee Anderson was ejected from the House of Commons for accusing Keir Starmer of dishonesty during a debate. The Reform UK Member of Parliament faced reprimand from Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle after insinuating that the Prime Minister was not truthful regarding his knowledge of Peter Mandelson’s vetting process. Meanwhile, Starmer expressed anger towards Foreign Office officials for being kept unaware of the scandal.

In a tense parliamentary exchange, Anderson confronted Starmer by questioning the Prime Minister’s credibility. However, Speaker Sir Lindsay intervened, reminding Anderson of the parliamentary rules against accusing fellow members of lying. Despite the Speaker’s request for withdrawal, Anderson stood by his statement, leading to his dismissal from the chamber.

Shortly after Anderson’s expulsion, Zarah Sultana, a Your Party MP, was also ordered out for labeling Starmer a liar. This incident culminated in a suspension vote against Sultana, following a similar pattern to Anderson’s removal.

The Prime Minister faced scrutiny during the lengthy debate as he tried to manage the fallout from the revelation that Lord Mandelson, with connections to Jeffrey Epstein, had not passed security vetting but was appointed as the UK’s Ambassador to the US. Starmer defended his stance, asserting that he would have rescinded Mandelson’s appointment if fully informed, criticizing the deliberate withholding of information by Foreign Office officials.

The ongoing controversy led to the dismissal of a top official, Sir Olly Robbins, by Starmer, further fueling the heated debate. Amidst the turmoil, UN official Tom Fletcher expressed support for Sir Olly, emphasizing his dedication to public service and integrity.

The parliamentary session witnessed a series of confrontations and expulsions, highlighting the intense disagreements and tensions surrounding the handling of the Mandelson appointment scandal.
