Labour has criticized Reform deputy Richard Tice, alleging that his companies failed to pay nearly £100,000 in corporation tax, damaging his credibility. Party chair Anna Turley called on Nigel Farage, the head of Reform, to explain why Tice, a multi-millionaire, continues to hold a key position in the party.

Tice, who also serves as the business spokesperson for the right-wing party, responded by stating his willingness to rectify any errors and settle any outstanding tax obligations. The controversy arose from reports by The Sunday Times revealing that Tice’s four shell companies did not pay taxes on profits between 2020 and 2022, allegedly funneling funds to Reform UK.

Despite the accusations, Tory member Robert Jenrick defended Tice, highlighting his extensive business career and contributions to job creation and tax payments. The Liberal Democrats have called for an investigation by HMRC into the matter, while Tice maintains that he has always followed professional tax advice and paid his dues accordingly.

In a statement, Tice emphasized his decades-long successful business track record, stating that tax efficiency is a fundamental duty to shareholders. He expressed readiness to address any discrepancies in tax payments and criticized what he perceives as a smear campaign against him, arguing that such tactics discourage successful businesspeople from entering politics.

As the scrutiny continues, Tice asserts his commitment to serving his constituents and focuses on campaigning for the upcoming local elections, emphasizing his dedication to national interests over personal financial gain.
