Jos Verstappen escaped a terrifying car crash at the Rally of Wallonia unharmed, despite his vehicle being severely damaged after hitting a tree. Photos from the scene showed Verstappen’s Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 overturned near foliage, with a wheel torn off and extensive damage.
As the father of four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen, Jos participated in the rally with co-driver Jesper Vermeulen. Unfortunately, their car slid off the track and crashed into a tree during the competition.
Thankfully, there were no serious injuries in the accident, with Verstappen confirming he was uninjured. The car had prior damage from an earlier incident during the fourth stage of the rally.
Despite the setback, Verstappen made a remarkable recovery, finishing third behind Adrian Fernemont and Maxime Potty at the end of Saturday’s events. However, he and Vermeulen had to withdraw following the collision on Sunday.
Known for its technical challenges, the Rally of Wallonia takes place on asphalt roads that are high-speed and demanding, featuring tight turns and fast sections. Verstappen raced without his regular co-driver Renaud Jamoul, who was recovering from ankle surgery.
Meanwhile, Max Verstappen’s future in F1 remains uncertain, with fans eagerly awaiting the Miami Grand Prix. The Bahrain and Saudi Arabia events were canceled due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, giving Max time to reflect on his struggles with the new FIA rules.
After a disappointing performance in Japan, Max expressed his contemplation about the sport’s enjoyment and his personal happiness. Sky has enhanced its TV and sports bundle, now offering HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, and more, along with extensive coverage of sports events like the Premier League and Formula 1.
