Britain issued a strong warning to Russia today following the revelation of a Russian submarine mission to map crucial undersea infrastructure near UK waters. Ambassador Neil Holland, representing the UK, Norway, and the Netherlands, emphasized the need for transparency, stating that Russia’s covert activities against critical undersea infrastructure would not go unchallenged. The UK, in response to the threat, deployed Armed Forces to monitor and deter any potential malicious actions by the Russian vessels. Holland firmly stated that any attempt to harm the vital undersea infrastructure would result in severe consequences. Defense Secretary John Healey also addressed the escalating threats in the High North, emphasizing the UK’s commitment to defending its interests and allies, maintaining support for NATO, Ukraine, and protecting the homeland. He warned Putin that any sabotage attempts on the undersea infrastructure would not be tolerated and would lead to serious repercussions.
