The top waterparks worldwide have been ranked, with a European park making it to the top three for Brits seeking thrilling aquatic adventures without long-distance travel. Topping the list is Universal Orlando Volcano Bay in the USA, followed by Thermas dos Laranjais in Brazil, a popular destination. In third place is AREA 47, located in the Tyrol region of Austria, known for winter sports but transforming into a vast outdoor leisure park during the snow-free months.

AREA 47 offers a unique experience compared to traditional indoor waterparks, as it is situated around a natural lake, emphasizing outdoor, nature-infused activities. From mid-May to October, visitors can enjoy over 40 water-based attractions, including an inflatable obstacle course on the lake, a diving tower, and Europe’s steepest waterslide with a 70° incline. Thrill-seekers can also experience Blobbing, Cannonball jumps, and cliff diving, all set against picturesque mountain landscapes.

In addition to water-based fun, AREA 47 provides amenities like a beach bar, sun loungers, climbing walls, mountain biking trails, and wakeboarding facilities. While American and European waterparks dominated the rankings, UK waterparks fell outside the top ten.

The UK’s leading waterpark, Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool, secured the 14th spot, featuring 18 slides, including the UK’s longest indoor roller coaster waterslide. Alton Towers Waterpark, combining indoor and outdoor attractions within the Alton Towers theme park, ranked 15th. With options like high-speed slides, interactive water features, and a lazy river, Alton Towers Waterpark offers year-round entertainment for visitors of all ages.

For those looking for aquatic excitement closer to home, these top waterparks provide a mix of adrenaline-inducing rides and relaxing experiences, making them ideal destinations for family fun and adventure seekers alike.
