Novak Djokovic playfully remarked that he still has many years ahead to achieve his goal of winning a 25th Grand Slam singles title despite his loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open final. Alcaraz defeated Djokovic with a score of 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, making him the youngest man to achieve all four Majors at the age of 22.

Djokovic, aged 38, aimed to secure his 25th singles title but fell short once again against Alcaraz, who also defeated him in the 2024 Wimbledon final. Alcaraz surpassed Rafael Nadal as the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam, prompting Djokovic to acknowledge the age gap in his post-match remarks in Melbourne.

During the on-court interview, Djokovic congratulated Alcaraz on his historic and legendary performance, wishing him success in his career. Djokovic humorously noted that both he and Alcaraz have plenty of time ahead in their careers but jokingly implied they might not face each other in the next decade.

Alcaraz’s victory at the Australian Open marked the ninth consecutive men’s Grand Slam singles title won by either a Spaniard or Jannik Sinner. Alcaraz now boasts seven Major titles, while Sinner holds four.

Despite Djokovic’s last Major win at the 2023 US Open, his era of dominance appears to be fading. Nevertheless, the Serbian remains determined in his pursuit of a 25th title, expressing gratitude to his team for their unwavering support during the challenging moments.

In his speech, Alcaraz praised Djokovic for his inspiring work ethic and achievements on the court, highlighting the impact he has had not only on tennis but also on athletes worldwide.

Both players exchanged mutual respect and admiration, showcasing sportsmanship and camaraderie in their post-match interactions.
