London Marathon organizers are discussing the possibility of expanding the event to span two days in 2027, aiming to accommodate a larger number of participants. The prestigious marathon has been a staple in the capital city since 1981, with a consistent presence over the years.

Traditionally held in a single day, the marathon may transition to a weekend-long affair due to the increasing turnout. Plans are being drafted to stretch the event duration to allow for more runners to join in the experience.

A spokesperson for the London Marathon expressed that the event, known as the TCS London Marathon, is renowned as the world’s most popular marathon. The organizers are dedicated to exploring innovative strategies to facilitate broader participation while bringing positive impacts to London.

Although no official confirmation has been provided, discussions are ongoing with partners and stakeholders regarding the potential extension of the 2027 TCS London Marathon to span two days. The immediate focus remains on delivering an exceptional 2026 TCS London Marathon on Sunday, April 26, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants.

Hugh Brasher, the Chief Executive, emphasized the continuous efforts to make the TCS London Marathon more inclusive and beneficial for London. Collaborating closely with partners and stakeholders, the team aims to host a remarkable event annually in the heart of the city.
