The man accused of fatally stabbing a 21-year-old individual at Primrose Hill has been publicly identified for the first time after declaring in court that he did not commit the murder.

Oliuwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, aged 27, was formally charged with the killing of Finbar Sullivan, a student of filmmaking who tragically lost his life following an alleged incident at the popular viewpoint in north London on Tuesday evening. Speaking briefly during a court session at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Ogunyankinnu vehemently denied the accusations, stating, “I did not commit the crime, I did not harm anyone, they have mistaken the identity,” before being escorted to the detention area.

Upon hearing the case, District Judge Ashwinder Gill informed Ogunyankinnu that the severity of the charges warranted a trial at the Central Criminal Court instead of the magistrates’ court. The defendant was notified of this decision by the judge.

Law enforcement officers responded to a disturbance call at Primrose Hill around 6:30 pm on Tuesday.

Christopher, the father of Finbar, revealed that his son sustained fatal injuries, including a decisive stab wound to the leg that led to severe bleeding due to an artery being severed.

According to Christopher, the student had visited the scenic location in north London that day to try out a new camera he had purchased for his 21st birthday. Shortly after, Christopher received distressing news from Finbar’s friend, who reported that the student had been injured and that they had been administering CPR for approximately 20 minutes.

Describing the heart-wrenching moment, Christopher recounted his attempt to reach Primrose Hill but was obstructed by a police cordon. When he identified himself to an officer, he was informed that a detective would speak with him, revealing the devastating news of his son’s demise.

Christopher, aged 65, cherished his son as a remarkable and affectionate individual, emphasizing the profound loss he feels. He expressed his deep sorrow and disbelief over the tragic event.

Christopher shared that Finbar aspired to follow the professional path of his grandfather, renowned cameraman Michael Seresin, known for his work on notable films like “Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban” and “Rambo III.”

The Metropolitan Police continues its investigation into the incident, urging individuals with relevant information to submit it through the police major incident portal or contact authorities directly, referencing the case number provided. Anonymous reports can also be made to Crimestoppers.

In a separate development, a 25-year-old individual previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released without further action.
