Authorities have made an urgent plea following a collision where a woman pushing a stroller was struck by a car that veered onto the sidewalk. The event occurred today around 4:30 pm on the R617 route connecting Blarney and Tower in Ireland. The woman, in her thirties, and the infant were swiftly taken to a hospital in Cork. Reports indicate that the woman’s injuries are not life-threatening, and fortunately, the baby sustained no harm, described as a ‘miraculous’ turn of events by a local fire department member.
Individuals who witnessed the incident or were passing through the vicinity at the time with potential dashcam footage are encouraged to contact emergency services for assistance.
A spokesperson from the Garda mentioned, “Authorities and emergency responders were on-site following a car accident involving two pedestrians, a woman in her thirties, and a young infant, at Blarney, Co. Cork, today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, around 4:30 pm. Both pedestrians were taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No further injuries were documented, and the area was cordoned off for investigation. The road has since been reopened. Authorities are seeking witnesses, including those with dashcam or video recordings, who were in the vicinity at the time.”
Local council member Damian Boylan expressed his sympathy for the victim and praised the efforts of the Garda and emergency services during the incident.
Boylan commented, “This was an extremely unfortunate occurrence, and our relief lies in the fact that no fatalities resulted. However, the ordeal must have been terrifying. My thoughts are with the woman and her loved ones. I am confident that the authorities are diligently examining the circumstances surrounding the event.”
