A traveler from the UK recently recounted an incident where she was asked to remove her jacket at the airport gate before boarding a plane due to a disagreement over her hand luggage. The Brit was on her way from London Gatwick to Düsseldorf, Germany, with easyJet for a short five-day holiday, opting to only pay for an under-the-seat cabin bag to save money.

Before boarding, the woman wore a jacket and scarf to the airport due to the cold weather, which she later removed and draped over her arm while waiting at the boarding gate. Upon reaching the front of the queue, she was asked to ensure her under-the-seat bag was the correct size. After confirming this, an easyJet staff member allegedly pointed out that her bag was not zipped up.

Following a back-and-forth with the staff, the traveler was instructed to repack her hand luggage to accommodate duty-free items she had purchased, including two miniatures from Boots and a bottle of water. Despite fitting everything into her bag, she was asked to unzip her jacket by the same staff member, leading to a tense exchange.

Ultimately, after multiple checks and adjustments, the woman was allowed to board the plane. This incident, shared in a viral TikTok video, garnered over 2.1 million views. easyJet later apologized for the experience, expressing regret and offering a gesture of goodwill to the traveler.
