Numerous flights to and from the United Kingdom faced cancellations today amidst the ongoing conflict in Iran. Many airlines have adjusted their flight schedules due to airspace limitations in the Middle East, resulting in the cancellation of 21,915 out of 38,193 planned services since February 28.

In response to a nearby drone strike that injured four individuals, Dubai International Airport temporarily halted operations on Wednesday morning. However, flight operations have now resumed following the incident. Emirates and Etihad are currently operating on limited schedules from Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways is assisting affected passengers and striving to reunite them with their families as Qatari airspace remains closed.

Qatar Airways expressed that they will recommence operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirms the safe reopening of the country’s airspace. British Airways also announced the suspension of flights to and from various destinations such as Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, and Tel Aviv until later this month. Flights to and from Abu Dhabi are canceled until later this year, resulting in the cancellation of numerous British Airways services in the upcoming months.

Data shared by analytics firm Cirium with the Mirror disclosed that 55 out of today’s planned flights had been canceled as of 12:45 pm, accounting for 2.49% of the total flights scheduled between the UK and the Middle East. Passengers intending to travel to or from the Middle East in the near future are advised to check their airline’s website for guidance and refer to the latest advice provided by the Foreign Office.
