US President Donald Trump announced on social media that Israeli and Lebanese leaders are set to engage in talks after over three decades without communication. This development follows White House denials of reports requesting a two-week extension of the ceasefire with Iran, which Iran has not confirmed at this stage. Trump shared the upcoming dialogue on Truth Social, expressing anticipation for the first contact in 34 years.

Meanwhile, amidst expectations for renewed US-Iran discussions, the US continues to maintain a blockade on Iranian ports. Tehran has threatened retaliation by targeting sites in the Middle East. More than 10,000 additional US troops, including 6,000 on the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier, are expected in the region.

In response to the blockade, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the international community’s unanimous call to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Wang stressed respecting Iran’s sovereignty and legitimate rights while ensuring navigation safety through the strait. The critical situation was highlighted by Wang as a juncture between war and peace, with Iran expressing readiness for peaceful negotiations.
