A prominent technology firm specializing in AI-powered software is providing a £60,000 per year internship opportunity to high school graduates.

Palantir Technologies is encouraging young individuals to forego university debt by applying for its Meritocracy Fellowship. Successful candidates will engage in full-time work at the company’s London headquarters for five months with a pro-rata salary of up to £60,000.

There is a possibility of a permanent position at the company with a potential salary increase, although this is not guaranteed.

Reportedly, participants will contribute to projects aimed at upholding Western values and supporting vital institutions like the NHS to address significant challenges.

Palantir aims to attract individuals interested in studying computer science at university. Prospective applicants must have completed their A-Levels or equivalent qualifications before the fellowship commences in October 2026.

The internship program will run until February 2027.

Louis Mosley, the executive vice president and head of Palantir UK, stated that the company is seeking the best tech talent in Britain, offering eighteen-year-olds the chance to transition from school directly into a work environment alongside top engineers globally.

Mosley emphasized the value of learning at Palantir, suggesting it is more beneficial than spending years in university acquiring potentially outdated knowledge and accumulating debt, given the rapid evolution of technology.

The initiative coincides with rising discontent related to the Plan 2 student loan system, where interest rates are linked to Retail Prices Index (RPI) inflation plus up to 3% based on graduates’ earnings.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves recently announced a freeze on the salary threshold for loan repayments at £29,385 for a three-year period from April onwards.

While acknowledging the flaws in the student loan system, Reeves indicated that addressing the issue is not the government’s top priority. She expressed a commitment to improving the system but clarified that it is not at the forefront of their agenda.

In a statement, Reeves highlighted the importance of addressing the challenges faced by young individuals not engaged in education, employment, or training, emphasizing the need for improvements in the education system.
