Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix due to a technical infringement. The McLaren team’s cars did not meet the minimum 9mm thickness requirement for the planks underneath during post-race inspections. This violation led to their disqualification from the race results.

The disqualification significantly impacts the drivers’ championship standings, with Max Verstappen claiming victory in the Las Vegas race. As a result of Norris and Piastri losing their positions, Verstappen is now tied on points with Piastri and trails championship leader Norris by 24 points with two races left in the season.

Following the race, both McLaren drivers faced a hearing with the stewards, which lasted over an hour and concluded in the early hours of the morning. Norris, who initially finished second but was demoted due to the disqualification, expressed disappointment with his performance, acknowledging that the team lacked the pace to compete with the leading Red Bull car driven by Verstappen.

Despite his disappointment, Norris commended Verstappen’s performance and acknowledged the need for improvement within the McLaren team. Looking ahead to the remaining races, Norris remains focused on regaining momentum and aiming for success in the upcoming events.
