After being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship, the Montreal Roses made the decision to part ways with their first head coach, Robert Rositoiu. The announcement came from the club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, who expressed gratitude to Rositoiu for his efforts in establishing the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages.
Acknowledging that letting go of a coach is a difficult choice, the club emphasized the need for a new direction to navigate the rest of the season and propel the club’s growth. Currently sitting in second place in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 regular-season matches remaining.
Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, previously the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
