After attending two unforgettable nights, I find it challenging to describe the overwhelming emotions of witnessing Lady Gaga’s performance once again, 15 years after attending The Monster Ball tour. Securing tickets to see the iconic Mother Mayhem is a near-impossible feat for most Little Monsters, making the opportunity even more special when my friend managed to secure them for us. To my surprise, I also received an exclusive invitation to witness not just one, but two nights of Lady Gaga’s show, courtesy of Collection Cosmetics. Needless to say, I eagerly accepted the invitation.

Lady Gaga’s significance in the music industry, particularly to the LGBTQ+ community, holds a profound place in my heart. Long before it became popular, she championed the rights of marginalized communities. Her music, stemming from genuine emotion, has empowered women to break free from societal norms and forge their own paths.

My admiration for Gaga can be likened to a Swiftie’s devotion to Taylor Swift. Memorizing the lyrics to all her songs, including the more obscure ones, she served as my idol during my formative years. My teenage room was adorned with her posters, a testament to my deep admiration. Mimicking her makeup style, watching her interviews with amusement, and meticulously jotting down her song lyrics in a notebook became daily rituals.

Witnessing Lady Gaga grace the stage at Co-Op Live in Manchester not once, but twice, was a dream come true. The euphoria of being in her presence, alongside fellow fans, was surreal. We sang along passionately, shedding tears during heartfelt renditions of “Speechless” and “Dance in the Dark,” and danced exuberantly for over two and a half hours. The concert was a spectacle of hits, from “Bloody Mary” to “Zombie Boy,” complemented by mesmerizing light effects from the wristbands distributed to the audience.

In a touching moment before performing “Born This Way,” Lady Gaga acknowledged and celebrated Manchester’s queer community. Expressing her gratitude, she declared, “This show is for you. For your pride, your freedom, the way you look. You have been so special to me my whole life, my whole career,” eliciting a thunderous response from the crowd. Reflecting on her fondness for Manchester, she acknowledged the strong presence of Little Monsters in the audience.

The second night, shared with my mother, was equally enchanting, albeit from a different vantage point. Delighted by the experience, my mother, familiar with many lyrics from my teenage playlist, reveled in the performance. A standout moment was Gaga’s rendition of “Edge of Glory” on the piano, a surprising and unforgettable rendition.

Despite the seamless and effortless appearance of her performance, it is a testament to Lady Gaga’s talent as she masterfully sings and dances live, all while managing fibromyalgia. She posed a hypothetical question to the audience about attending her concert in 20 years, to which my resounding answer would be an enthusiastic yes. Regardless of age, Lady Gaga’s enduring artistry promises to captivate audiences for years to come, whether belting out hits on stage or delivering soul-stirring performances at the piano.
