Statistics Canada reported that in the days following the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, a significant number of drivers crossed into Canada. The bridge, which links Windsor and Detroit, finally opened for traffic on July 27, following a series of delays. According to initial data from StatCan, within the first five days of operation, there were 18,900 return trips by Canadian residents over the Gordie Howe bridge from the United States. Additionally, 18,100 U.S. residents crossed the bridge into Canada during the same period. Comparatively, the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel collectively recorded 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadian and U.S. residents over the same timeframe. Furthermore, commercial transport saw 4,100 trucks entering Canada via the Gordie Howe bridge in the last five days of July.
